Bon Vivant Educational Tours was founded by Patrick Hurley, a bilingual native of New Brunswick who has worked in the educational sector for over 25 years in Louisiana, France and Québec. If he has been able to live and work abroad in his second language, it is in no small part thanks to the several student trips that he undertook during his middle and high school years, which sparked his interest for travel, languages and cultures.
While teaching 7th and 8th grade French in Louisiana, Patrick worked with several travel companies to organize student trips to Quebec City. Although the trips were successful, he felt there was a gap between the tour and the classroom activities, that there should be a more integrative approach to educational travel, to help teachers and students connect the educational tour experience to the classroom activities.
This vision became a reality in 2008 when he founded Bon Vivant Educational Tours. Bon Vivant works closely with teachers not only to organize fun-filled, educational and cultural learning experiences, but also to provide pedagogical support and resources through educational units, blog posts and social media content, in-class presentations and post-tour follow-up activities. Our goal is to become a partner in education – offering the best possible service before, during and after the trip. Ready to rediscover educational travel? Contact us today to start planning.
